ReplyDeleteIts a great failure on the part of the so called Stars of Tollywood............This proves yet again the banality and hollowness of the so called stars of big and small screens.............The failure to end the serial with any dignity and pride lies squarely with the Ganer Opare Team.......Without generating any new message or adding any new dimension to Tagorean thoughts the team has not only let the Bengali community down but insulted the very image of Tagore.........They must offer a public apology for denigrating the image of Tagore.........They must understand that they are no super men or women.......They should know their capabilities and limitation before undertaking such ambitious ventures.
ReplyDeleteI am happy .....at least the mental torture will be over..........the boredom that has cast its spell over the serial will vanish...........thanks to the GNO team that they have realised their limitations that they are incapable of serving anything better and decided to call it a day..........and above all the legacy of Tagore will be saved from the day to day hammering and humilation.

ReplyDeleteI think I have been misunderstood. Let me clarify my position...................
ReplyDelete1. Yes I welcomed the decision to end the GNO show simply because it had off late become a stale and predictable stuff devoid of any imagination and surprise. The serial started with a bang with a lot of promise thriving on the tussle between Tagore of Yesterday and Tomorrow but at the end it turned out to be a tame triangular love affair with lots of filmy stuff.
2. Yes I agree with many of you that GNO has been an outstanding serial with lots of positive qualities like the the star cast, brilliant debut performances of Mimi, Gora and Arjun, wonderful songs and a very absorbing story line touching our mind and soul. In fact according to me GNO has been the only Soap Opera worth seeing. So my complements to everybody associated with this serial for offering such a brilliant serial.
3. But I have a regret too. This I had made it clear in many of my earlier posts that why did the serial degenerate into a love triangle with predictable consequences. I won’t pardon the GNO Directorial Team, the Producers and the Script Writer for letting the serial turn into an unending love story of very common stuff?
4. Lastly I need to explain where the serial denigrated and humiliated Tagore. All of a sudden in order to make Pupe a rebel, the Director started showing ‘Sonar Tory’ in an extremely poor light. He made all the male characters of ‘Sonar Tori’ who were otherwise famous in their own professions look like selfish lots engaged in making money by trading on Tagore. Thakurda who was symbolic of Tagore was suddenly turned into a villain and made to speak lies in many occasions. This is atrocious and may present a distorted image of Tagore to the next generation. Hence my protest.
I hope I have been possible to make my position clear. I would have been happy like so many of you it the serial could have maintained its high standard and continued for some more time. But we must remember that all good things one day come to an end as well.
I also thank Krishanu and others for running this fan blog.

Because the serial has touched the BENGALI MIND & SOUL and I don’t think such a nice and decent serial would ever be made, not at least in the near future.

Baki gulote kono chance e nei miss korar. Eto valo concept niye serial ta suru hoachilo songe musical touch specially Rabi Thakurer gaan..... All the characters were so lively and attached to daily life.I truly love this serial.

ReplyDeletei agree with siddharth and anyway just because the general public does'nt understand Ganer Oparey, then does that mean people nlike us among the general public who understand it have to suffer??????????? just because serials like maa and bou katha kou are getting more trp ratings than GNO does not give the authoroties to play around with us. during my icse i would put the alarm for 10:30 and slyly watch Ganer Oparey!!!!! and now with GNO gone i fell so incomplete. this was the first and only bangla serial that i would see and i got addicted to. it is because of this serial that so many kids of our generation are learning to enjoy rabindra sangeet and are wanting to learn the art of singing it. yes many people were against the idea of remixing the songs as Ganer Oparey has done but had the not done that would Ganer Oparey be famous enough to start blogs and posts and what have you to protest against the sudden end of this lovely, beautiful world of gora, pupe and pradipta which now have a special place in our hearts??????????
