ReplyDeleteThe GNO Team is getting the theme of the serial absolutely wrong..............They argue through Pupe and now Bisri that ‘Rabindra Bandana’ is bad and breaking away from the tradition is all good..............this is not true..............By constantly attacking ‘Sonar Tori’ the serial is sending a wrong message to the public..............Even the expected duel between Bisri & Thkurda could not reach any height...................It turned out to be a very ordinary and mundane exchange of words..............The argument of Bisri that Pupe was not properly brought up and made to function like a doll whose only business was to worship Tagore is baseless and a complete travesty of truth.............There was nothing wrong with Pupe.............She was a decent and intelligent girl till she became mad of loving Gora..............Her revolt was not against the ‘Rabindra Charcha’ or ‘Kabi Bandana’.............She simply wanted full freedom to decide on his lover which was denied.................hence all her tantrum....................although the script writer put some serious dialogues against Sonar Tori in her lips to project her a protagonist revolting against the system but it was not the case............She is a simple selfish girl willing to stretch herself to any limit for her personal gains.................On the other hand Thakurda had lots of points in support of Sonar Tori which he failed to project at the right moment...............There is a conscious move to denigrate Tagore through this serial................This is highly objectionable.................The GNO team should set their bearings right lest there would be more protests to stop this serial whose only business is to sell distorted images of Tagore we all love and know.

ReplyDeleteEveryone has their own way of understanding and interpreting Tagore and his work. If any one person or institution tries to exercise monopoly, it would ultimately lead to decadence - it is only a question of time. I have not heard about any "so called" protests to stop this serial as mentioned in the blog.
ReplyDeleteWhatever is good would always stay on.... thats the message this serial has been always highlighting. Rabindrasangeet in its rock/band and fusion formats would survive if they are good and accepted by the larger audience, else it would die its own death.
Tagore in all forms is immortal. No SOAP can mess with that.
Tappa.....thanks .....you are absolutely right...........but the point I am making that in order to welcome the new one need not disown the past or denounce the tradition.........that is exactly what is happening here..........Sonar Tori has been labelled as doing business on Tagore.......there are so many good things about Bengali art and culture that Sonar Tori residents are involved with.........If Sonar Tori is doing business, let it be.........Isn’t it Sahar TV doing likewise?.....are they not involved in doing business too?.........So why denigrate Sonar Tori purposely? .........This is my only point.
